I have really come a long way from my days in college.  I was unwise in my decision when it came to using credit cards. The convience of getting one was way to easy and the idea of having to pay it back was a distant thought. It wasn't until when I had to get a job offer after college did I encounter the reality that this really is more important than I thought it would be. If you have kids in college please sit down with them and explain to them the importance of using credit wisely.

Here are the key factors to remember about your credit score.

Age of credit history

Type of Account

Payment History

Public Records

Inquiries

Credit limit ratios

These factors are critical to getting a score above 720 which is considered an excellent score. Always remember it easier to lower score than to raise it.
