The Delta boating community is connected through its shared love of the water.  There’s an appreciation for being out there and seeing others having fun also, reflected in a simple gesture of a wave to a passing boat.  I never get a wave and smile on the highway or at a busy intersection but almost always get at least one wave from a passing boat.  Sometimes, everyone on the boat waves my way.  Those are well adjusted, happy and content Delta lovers.

However, every now and then my wave will be returned with an indifferent stare.  Are you just too kewl to wave?  I’d love to hear your thoughts on this waving thing.

It sounds like to me these are new boaters not familiar with the waving thing yet.Kinda when I went to Georgia.Everybody is so friendly waving saying 'hey' to strangers.Thats how they are.I didnt expect people to be so nice [with no alternative motive]and it did catch me off-guard,probably with a confused, surprised in a good way look on my face.I dont think it was a too kewl to wave look, more like a dah,I dont know the etiquette of the waterways yet.I could be entirely wrong but thats my input to it.
