The parade will begin at approximately 11 a.m. near the Antioch Lumber Company, and conclude at the marina. The event, which typically draws more than 20,000 people, will feature a restored Vietnam-era Huey assault helicopter, vintage cars, military vehicles, the Antioch and Deer Valley marching band and various community organizations.
But standing front and center in the parade will be the veterans. “It’s important that we honor all of the men and women who served in all of the wars and who have given their lives for us to enjoy the freedoms that we do,” said Mayor Jim Davis, who is co-chairing the event with his wife, Susan.
The parade’s grand marshals have not yet been announced, but past co-marshalls have included Vincent Silva, a survivor of the Bataan Death March, and Richard Lundin, a major general in the Northern California Army Reserve.
