The third annual Diablo Cup Matches between Roddy Ranch and Shadow Lakes/Deer Ridge are now in the books.

Defending champion Team Roddy Ranch won the inaugural event in 2008 and again last year. The Diablo Cup is a two-day event featuring four-ball matches (two-man best ball) played on day one, and singles matches played on day two.

Day one’s four-ball, two-man-team competition took place at Roddy Ranch. Pairings are done by handicap, giving players of all abilities the chance to compete. Roddy Ranch won the four-ball matches, taking a 12-6 point lead over Team Shadow Lakes/Deer Ridge.

In day two’s singles competition, held at Deer Ridge, Team Roddy Ranch needed to win 15 of the 36 singles matches to retain the Cup and 15½ points to win it. In a tight match, Team Shadow Lakes/Deer Ridge made a valiant effort but fell short by a half-point margin. The 27-27 tie gave defending champion Team Roddy Ranch the privilege of retaining the cup for another year.
