Sophomore guard Erin Asher scored a game-high 16 points for the Patriots. Sophomore post player Sabrina Englestad contributed 12. For the Falcons, sophomore guards Elsie Ross and Michelle Ponte each notched five points.

On Monday, Heritage doubled up Kennedy from Richmond at the home Martin Luther King Classic, claiming a 60-30 win. Asher again led the Patriots, this time with 20 points. The victory advanced Heritage’s record to 12-5 (1-0 BVAL). The Patriots travel to Antioch on Friday.

The Falcons had a tough time trying to stop Bulldogs freshman forward Taylor Berry, who scored 24 points that night.

Freedom hosts rival Liberty on Friday.

Deer Valley 44, St. Francis 31

Deer Valley senior guard Raven Fox scored a game-high 23 points as the Wolverines beat St. Francis 44-31 on Monday in the Terra Nova Shootout, near Pacifica.

Pittsburg 48, Liberty 45

To start league play, Pittsburg topped Liberty in a close 48-45 victory. Junior center Bernadette Fong led the Lions with 25 points. Sophomore guard Gabrielle Freeman contributed six. Sophomore guard Janeek Mollique scored a team-high 14 points for the Pirates.
