Brentwood’s City Council members divvied up committee assignments this week, and there’s plenty to keep everyone busy.

The council runs more than two dozen subcommittees, which do preliminary work on issues coming before the full council and represent the city on a variety of regional bodies. The election in November of Vice Mayor Steve Barr and Councilman Joel Bryant necessitated a shuffling of the various posts, and a few new assignments were added.

The new committees include the Pension/Other Post Employment Benefits (OPEB), which will look at managing an increasingly important aspect of the city budget that City Manager Donna Landeros said will be “critical” to the city’s financial health. Councilman Erick Stonebarger and Barr will handle that task.

Other new committees are Economic Development Initiatives (Mayor Bob Taylor and Bryant) and a liaison to the Brentwood Community Band (Bryant).

The remaining assignments are:

  • Agricultural Enterprise Committee – Joel Bryant and Erick Stonebarger
  • Land Use and Development Committee – Bob Taylor and Bob Brockman
  • Redevelopment Committee – Taylor and Brockman
  • Brentwood Boulevard Specific Plan – Brockman and Bryant
  • Economic Development Initiatives – Taylor and Bryant
  • Neighborhood Improvement Committee – Bryant and Stonebarger
  • Park, Trails and Recreation Master Plan – Taylor and Stonebarger
  • Pension/Other Post Employment Benefits (OPEB) – Steve Barr and Stonebarger
  • Sewer Water and Solid Waste Rate Study – Barr and Stonebarger
  • Solid Waste Transfer Station Committee – Barr and Stonebarger
  • The Vineyards and Los Medanos College Project – Taylor and Barr
  • ABAG – Taylor and Barr (alternate)
  • California Association of Councils of Governments – Taylor and Barr (alternate)
  • East Contra Costa County Habitat Conservancy Board – Bryant and Stonebarger (alternate)
  • Brentwood Advisory Neighborhood Committee (BANC) Liaison – Brockman and Stonebarger (alternate)
  • Delta Six – Taylor
  • East Bay Economic Development Alliance Executive Board – Taylor
  • League of California Cities (East Bay Division) – Taylor
  • Police Activities League (PAL) Liaison – Bryant
  • Community Band Liaison – Bryant
  • School Inter-Agency – Barr
