In the Liberty High School Playmakers production of “Pippin,” directed by Helen Dixon, Prince Pippin embarks on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to find the meaning of life with the help of a troupe of actors, including the Leading Players, who are blessed with the gift of magic.

The musical is one of Dixon’s favorites and she’s excited to bring it to the Liberty community. “It’s different than anything we’ve ever done,” she said. “As it’s about a troupe of actors, the visual style is meant to be very theatrical – lots of outlandish makeup and hair, crazy costumes and such. I was telling people that the time period is medieval-Vegas. Very funky.”

She does caution parents that some material might be considered inappropriate for children under 13.

Pippin takes the stage on Fridays and Saturdays, Feb. 25-26 and March 3-4 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, March 5 at 2 p.m. General admission is $12.50; $9.50 for students and seniors; $7.50 for Playmakers, Rising Stars, and Centre Stage Members. Tickets are available at the door or may be purchased in advance online at http://libertyunion.schoolwires.net/playmakers.

For more information, e-mail Dixon at dixonh@luhsd.net or call 925-634-3521 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on school days.
