Longtime Oakley and Brentwood resident Socorro Espindola passed away from this life from natural causes, peacefully surrounded by all her loved ones, on March 17, 2011. She was 71.

Socorro was born in Coalcoman, Michoacan, Mexico, on June 17, 1939, to +Luis and +Maria de Jesus Reyes. She was a very happy, loving, humble, caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved to dance and be surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband, Miguel Espindola of Oakley; eight children: Margarita (Ramon) Sanchez of Brentwood, Catalina (Joel) Gutierrez of Knightsen, Miguel (Christina) Espindola II, Ricardo (Maria) Espindola, Socorro (Sergio) Ortega, Luisa Yanes and Lupe Rodriguez of Oakley, and Irene (Jorge) Juarez of Brentwood; 22 grandchildren: Anabel, Ramon Jr., Luis M. Sanchez, Joel Jr. and Jorge Gutierrez, Monica, Miguel III, Jose Miguel Espindola, Ricardo II and Liliana Espindola, Sergio Jr., Diego and Yvette Ortega, Krystal Espindola, Eduardo and Rodolfo Yanes, Estephani and Alonzo Rodriguez, Rogelio “Roy” Elias, Feliza I and Jorge Juarez II; and two great-grandchildren: Jackeline and Isabela Sanchez. She is also survived by one uncle, four brothers, one sister and many nieces and nephews from California.

Socorro touched many hearts. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

And to her family, her last words were, “Los quiero mucho! Y desde el cielo los estare cuidando!”

The vigil and funeral services were held March 20 and 21.

We have much gratitude to all the wonderful friends and family who supported us during this very difficult time. Thank you to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church of Brentwood, St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Oakley, Holy Rosary and Holy Angels of Antioch, for their help and support toward our beloved Wife and Mother.

Descanse en Paz!
