The Filipino-American Association of Pittsburg observes the 69th anniversary of the fall of Bataan-Corregidor Saturday, April 9 at a luncheon buffet at Humphrey’s on the Delta in Antioch. The surviving veterans and war widows will be honored at the event.

A social time begins at noon; luncheon at 12:30. The buffet ticket is $35.

The three-month battle for Bataan ended on April 9, 1942, when 72,000 Filipino, American and Chinese soldiers near starvation surrendered to the Japanese and were led on the infamous Bataan Death March of 90 miles, resulting in approximately 18,000 deaths.

A Memorial Mass will be held Sunday, April 10 at noon at the Church of Good Shepherd, 3200 Harbor St. in Pittsburg.
