An Antioch police officer was injured on Tuesday, April 5 at 1:53 a.m. when a parolee-at-large knocked her down with his car and rammed her patrol car on the 2100 block of Somersville Road.

The officer was conducting a traffic stop on San Francisco resident Dante Curry, 28, for driving with no headlights on. Curry initially provided the officer with a false name. The officer opened Curry’s driver’s door and asked him to step out of the car in order to confirm his identity. Curry instead put his car in reverse, knocked down the officer with the car door, then rammed the officer’s patrol car and sped off, initiating a pursuit with other APD officers.

The pursuit ended several miles away in Antioch near Sequoia and Redwood drives, where Curry and his passenger fled on foot. The passenger was apprehended with the help of an Antioch police K9 unit. Curry climbed over several neighborhood fences and was eventually caught after an extensive search assisted by a Brentwood PD K9.

Curry was found to be a parolee at large out of San Francisco for weapons and explosives violations. He was sent to the Martinez Detention Facility on several felony charges related to this incident, including assault with a deadly weapon on the Antioch officer.

The officer was treated and released at a local hospital. She is expected to make a full recovery.
