Scouts and Wayne Burgess of the Antioch Parks Department planted a tree in an Antioch park last year to commemorate Arbor Day. This year’s festivities take place Friday, April 29.

Mayor Jim Davis, who issued an Arbor Day proclamation at the April 12 City Council meeting, will join club members and Cub Scout Pack 247 in the dedication ceremony. Club members and Scouts will plant two coast live oaks donated by Pacheco Brothers Gardening in Martinez.
The event, Antioch’s ninth Arbor Day observation, allows the city to maintain its title of Tree City USA from the National Arbor Day Foundation.
The Antioch Riverview Garden Club meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Antioch Public Library, 501 W. 18th St. Those interested in gardening and community beautification are welcome. For more information, call 925-439-4482.
