Kids can hone their tennis and soccer skills at several East County camps this summer.

Freedom High School will host tennis camps for elementary, junior high and high school future court stars throughout June. The camps are led by Freedom head coach Steve Amaro, who is certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association.

Camps run from June 7 to 9, 13 to 16, 20 to 23 and 27 to 30. Session one, for players in grades one through eight, runs from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Session two, for those entering grades nine through 12, runs from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. An hour of open court time starts at noon.

The camps cost $40 per week, except for the first, which costs $35. Participants must also bring four unopened containers of tennis balls, non-marking-soled tennis shoes and a tennis racquet. For more information, call Amaro at 925-625-5900, ext. 3044.

Freedom girls soccer

Freedom will host a girls soccer camp from June 13 to 16 from 9 a.m. to noon. Soccer players 6 to 13 in all ability levels are invited. Players will be schooled in dribbling, passing and shooting. They’ll meet future teammates and get a feel for the new synthetic turf field.

Campers should bring water, a ball, shin guards, cleats, athletic attire and sunscreen. The fee is $80. For information, call Kim Vredenburgh at 925-759-0345.

Delta Youth Soccer League

Delta Youth Soccer League has teamed up with Challenger Sports to host the weeklong British Soccer Camp from July 11 to 15 at Antioch Youth Sports Complex on Wilbur Avenue at Apollo Court. Each player will be coached by a member of Challenger’s team of 1,000 British soccer coaches flown to the USA exclusively to offer these programs.

Registration is $66 for kids 3 to 4; $78 for kids age 5; $105 per half day for those 6 to 16; and $145 per full day for those 8 to 16.

Each camper will receive an official T-shirt, a soccer ball, giant soccer poster and personalized skills-performance evaluation. In addition, children who sign up online at least 45 days prior to camp will receive a genuine British Soccer Replica Jersey.
