National Night Out is a program sponsored by law enforcement agencies across the nation. The program heightens drug-prevention and crime awareness, generates support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthens neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and sends a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and are fighting back.
The Antioch Police Crime Prevention Commission has extended an invitation to all current Neighborhood Watch groups to participate in National Night Out by organizing and presenting a program in their neighborhood.
The commission will award $100 certificates redeemable for food and refreshments to the first 25 Neighborhood Watch groups who submit an application outlining their program for National Night Out.
If your neighborhood is not currently participating in a Neighborhood Watch program, call the Antioch Police Department at 779-6878 for further information.
Applications for the National Night Out program, held Tuesday, Aug. 2 from 6 to 9 p.m., are available on the City of Antioch’s Crime Prevention website, www.ci.antioch.ca.us/citygov/police/crime_prevention.htm, or by calling Lt. Robin Kelley at 925-779-6878. Applications must be submitted by Friday, June 24.
