Pioneer Elementary School fourth-graders recently visited Columbia State Historic Park to learn more about the California Gold Rush. At left, Juliet Simens’ students spend some time in an 1890s-style classroom to see what school was like for children their age back in pioneer days. Students took part in a variety of activities during the field trip, including panning for gold.
