Dive into fun at the Prewett Water Park

The Antioch Recreation Department and Prewett Water Park offer several fun ways for residents to beat the heat this summer.

The water park is open every day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Aug. 21, followed by brief reopenings Aug. 27 and 28 and Sept. 3 to 5.

Prewett offers a full slate of special upcoming events starting on Saturday with Princess Day shows at 12:30, 2:30 and 4 p.m. Other events coming up at Prewett Park include:

June 11

Baseball/Softball Day: Youth baseball and softball players can get in for $2 off the normal ticket price if they wear their team jerseys. The day also features a raffle with prizes from the Stockton Ports, a minor league baseball team.

June 12

Tropical Sun Day: Mau Loa Ohana will perform at 2 p.m.

June 17

DJ Friday Night and Tropical Movie Night: A DJ will spin some tunes; then at dusk, the park will show “The Lion King.”

June 18

Allie’s 16th birthday party: Celebrate Prewett Park mascot Allie’s 16th birthday with jumpers, balloons, clowns and a magic show by Gerald the Magician.

June 19

Fathers’ Day: The park will host a drawing for special gifts for dads who enter the contest.

June 25

Pirate Day: Set sail for the high seas of fun at Prewett Park, which will host Scoundrel Pirate shows.

The recreation department has planned a full slate of camps, including the Coyote Hills Summer Day Camp and Teen Camp, as well as camps for art, cooking, science and drama. The water park will also host camps, such as lifeguard and water polo.

Adjacent to the water park is the new Antioch Community Center, which will host a showing of the animated movie “Megamind” on Saturday, July 30 at dusk. Tickets are $5 per family, and people can bring food or drink to enjoy as they watch the movie.

Another venue for fun will be Waldie Plaza at First and I streets in downtown Antioch, which will host the free Saturday Summer Concert Series. Musical acts include Vocal Ease & The Boogie Men, music from the ’40s, ’50s and ’60s on July 2; ’80s cover band RetroManiax on July 9; classic soul and R&B band Juke Joint on July 23; East Bay country rock band Rodeo House on Aug. 13; and the center’s Aug. 27 finale, showcasing Mixed Nuts, which plays Motown, rock, disco and more.
