Got rock?

The Bethel Island levee needs rock (rip rap).

An attempt by BIMID to raise revenues for the rock by means of a parcel tax (Measure X on the November, 2010 ballot) failed – but the levee’s need for rock remains.

Many homeowners who voted yes for Measure X have expressed an interest in paying for rock for their section of the levee. The BIMID Board of Directors approved this idea and has developed a program that will allow property owners to purchase rock for their portion of the levee. This program is completely voluntary; no one is required to participate.

The estimated cost of the rock for an average lot (50 feet wide) is $1,600, which covers the rip rap, trucking, labor and equipment. Since lot sizes vary, a lot-specific estimate will be provided for interested property owners.
