Time is short for parents to get children immunized with the whooping cough booster vaccine by the Aug. 1 deadline, and health officials are clear: No Shot, No School.

As of July 1, state law requires all students entering grades seven through 12 to be immunized with the pertussis vaccine. As of Aug. 1, students will not be allowed to attend school without proof of inoculation.

For those without health coverage, free booster shots are available on Mondays, July 18 and Aug. 1, 15 and 29 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 971 O’Hara Ave. in Oakley. Shots will also be offered at the Liberty Adult Education Center, 929 Second St. in Brentwood, on Mondays, July 25 and Aug. 8 and 22.

Proof of vaccinations may be dropped off at the following school district locations:

*Antioch Unified School District: 510 “G” St., Antioch.

*Byron Union School District: 14301 Byron Highway, Byron.

*Brentwood Union School District: 255 Guthrie Lane.

*Knightsen Elemementary School District: 1923 Delta Road, Knightsen.

*Liberty Union High School District: 20 Oak St., Brentwood.

*Oakley Union Elementary School District: 91 Mercedes Lane, Oakley.
