FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

07-15-11 145PM

The East Bay Veterans Fair will be held Monday, July 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Concord Hilton, 1970 Diamond Blvd. in Concord. The Concord Vet Center, AMVETS Post 26 and Vietnam Veterans of Diablo Valley will be hosting this bi-annual veterans resource, job and education fair.

The East Bay Veterans Fair will be a one-stop shop to help veterans and active duty military and their families find veteran-friendly employers, access to veteran benefits counselors, job search assistance and veteran resources from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Blue Star Moms of Contra Costa County will be on hand to provide baby-sitting for attendees and collect donations for military care packages.

Also this year, Blood Centers of the Pacific will conduct a blood drive in honor of our veterans and active-duty military. Your donation will help support VA hospitals and The David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base. To pre-register for the blood drive, visit www.bloodheroes.com.

Identification is required for participation in the blood drive. No pre-registration for The East Bay Veterans Fair is necessary, but access to counselors will granted on a first-come, first-served basis. If you require benefits counseling, it is recommended, but not required, that you bring a copy of your DD-214.

If you would like to be a vendor or volunteer, call Jeremy Mattia at 925-680-4526 or e-mail jeremy.mattia@va.gov.
