Oakley native Luke Edwards, Freedom High School class of 2007, graduated with honors from UC Davis in June with a Bachelor of Science degree in managerial economics.

Edwards received a full Navy scholarship to attend UC Davis as part of the Naval Reserve Officer Training Program. After graduating, Edwards was commissioned as an active duty officer aboard the USS Hornet, left, with his proud mother Linda LoGrasso and father Stephen Edwards.

In October, he’ll begin nuclear submarine training in South Carolina. In the meantime, he’ll work as a staff officer at his old ROTC unit in Berkeley and as a sailing instructor on the unit’s sailboat Courageous.
