Crowds cleared out and flags were put away, but the celebration continued for a pair of patriotic entries in this year’s Antioch Fourth of July Parade. Last week, parade organizers presented a pair of awards to a pair of patriotic entries.

Above left, organizer Walter Ruehlig presents Bill Putman, center, and Ralph Brys of the Marine Corps League Detachment 1155 of Brentwood with a trophy for Best Military entry in the parade.

The photo on the left shows Ruehlig back in action, awarding a second-place certificate for Best Patriotic Organization to Steve Morris, representing the combined Knights of Columbus Fourth of July Parade color guard and Knights on Wheels motorcycle contingent.

The acknowledgments were provided by the California State Assembly through Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla’s office, and were conferred at a recent Antioch City Council meeting.
