Hot August Nights Under the Son – Brentwood’s annual fundraiser to support the Christian shoe project in Tijuana and Community Outreach Center of the East Bay – kicks off Friday, Aug. 12 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Ace Hardware and National Flooring on Brentwood Boulevard.

The popular event features Christian fellowship and a variety of music, from gospel to pop and rock. Scheduled bands include Men For Him, Goodbye Skyline, Chosen and The Lanisa Keith Band. Sticky Chicken and Ribs will be on hand with mobile meals and beverages, and a children’s play and activity area – courtesy of Celebration Christian Preschool – will also be provided.

The donations of items such as sleeping bags, blankets coats, baby formula and diapers are welcome, and a vendor will be present to purchase shoes at $5 per pair for the needy in Tijuana. All proceeds from the event go toward supporting those ministries.
