Brentwood resident Doris Polari passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Sept. 8, surrounded by family. Doris touched many lives with her generosity and loving spirit.

Born in Oakland, Doris graduated from Fremont High School. In 1940 she married the love of her life, Frank Polari, and they were happily married for 46 years, residing in Lafayette and Brentwood. Doris was a devoted wife and mother, and assisted her husband with their business, Frank Polari Farms. In their later years they enjoyed traveling the world together on the QE2.

She will be remembered for her love of homemaking, including wonderful authentic Italian cooking and baking, plus sewing and ceramics. In her later years she adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed attending their numerous school and sporting events. She was an avid baseball fan and attended many A’s and Giants games with her family. She was thrilled to live long enough to see her S.F. Giants win the World Series.

Doris is survived by her loving children, Patricia Hoffner and Frank Polari Jr.; son-in-law, Bob Hoffner; four granddaughters and their spouses, Robyn and Daron Spears, Renee and Donnie Thomas, Rochelle and Tom Henson, and Regan and Kris Franklin; as well as seven great grandchildren, Allyson and Brayden Spears, Paige and Ty Henson, Addison and McKenzie Thomas; and Robert Franklin – all of Brentwood.

Donations in Doris’ memory may be sent to Sutter Hospice or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-0050. Arrangements were made by the Brentwood Funeral Home.
