As a concerned resident of Discovery Bay, I am troubled by the issues leading to the arrest of CSD Director and Board Vice President Brian Dawson. I (like many other DB residents) believe it is in the best interest of our community for Director Dawson to resign from the board, effective immediately.

When Mr. Dawson was first appointed to the CSD, it was against the wishes of the majority of the board. In fact, current board member Mark Simon wrote a letter to each board supervisor (public record) prior to the appointment, outlining the reasons he felt that Mr. Dawson wasn’t fit to serve.

Brian Dawson never disclosed his mental disorder during the appointment. Mr. Dawson admitted in his interview with Ruth Roberts that he is unable to control his anger and unable to make rational decisions without medication. I believe that Brian had an obligation to the residents of DB to disclose this critical information before he decided to run for office. The decisions he makes as a board member affect every resident of this small community, and in many instances result in a financial burden on the community’s ratepayers.

Mr. Dawson has exhibited the extent of his anger on several occasions, including twice in the parking lot of the CSD offices. He waited with his shirt off for a resident he felt had insulted him during the meeting. Brian’s wife finally talked him into getting into the car and going home instead of fighting.

The second issue came when he got upset during a CSD meeting because he wasn’t appointed to a committee he wanted to serve on. He passed a note to board President Kevin Graves, threatening to “kick his ass” after the meeting. CSD counsel Dan Schroeder had to step between them in the parking lot to stop the altercation.

Brian Dawson needs to resign his CSD directorship effective immediately.

Mr Halverson, try to keep on point. People have independent opinions and lives even if they MIGHT have a relative in this community. This is not the issue we are dealing with right now.

I concur with Mr. Flint. There is nothing to be gained by dragging this out. Mr. Dawson, do the right thing for yourself, your family and your community. resign so someone with less to deal with and do what you need to do to get well, heal your family, and deal with the upcoming litigation.
