Penny the Pup is East County’s cutest pet, according to Press readers who voted in the Press’ inaugural Facebook contest this month.

Since 107 pets were nominated, Press readers had a difficult decision to make. More than 1,400 votes were cast.

Penny the Pup, submitted by Eric Pane, received 152 votes. Honorable mentions, which each received more than 100 votes, include Angus, submitted by Jonathan Levers; Chocolate Moose “I’m a Model,” submitted by Larry Widener; Noodles, submitted by Kelsey Almassey; and Thirsty Kitty, submitted by Pamela Souza.

As part of her title, Penny the Pup also earned a $100 gift certificate from contest sponsor Pets 4 All in Brentwood.
