In celebration of Veterans Day, His & Hers Formal Wear in Brentwood is joining Brides Across America to give away free designer wedding gowns to military brides-to-be. The event is held Thursday and Friday, Nov. 10 and 11.

Brides Across America is a nationwide charity dedicated to providing free wedding gowns for military brides. Salons nationwide will be saluting military who have served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Bahrain Libya, Kuwait or Japan, or whose fiancés are on active duty in these areas.

BAA Founder Heidi Janson is pleased that His & Hers Formal Wear owners Annette Beckstrand and Susanne Larson have partnered with her organization. “Every little bit helps,” said Janson. “With tough economic times, military brides appreciate having help putting together their magical day. Bridal salon owners are very generous in their giving, and it is important as an industry to make a difference.”

Since 2007, Brides Across America, a Massachusetts-based charitable organization, and its partners have given away more than 3,000 wedding gowns nationwide. To qualify, brides must be engaged, be on active duty in the military, or have a fiancé on active duty in the aforementioned nations. All military brides must show ID, a copy of deployment papers, orders or other qualifying proof. Brides needn’t reside in the area where the giveaway is taking place.
