First 5 Contra Costa Children and Families Commission

Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board
The board assesses family and community needs regarding treatment and prevention of alcohol and drug abuse problems and provides input and recommendations on prevention, intervention and treatment services to the Contra Costa Health Services Department, the Board of Supervisors and the communities it serves. The board meets the fourth Wednesday of the month at 3:45 p.m. at the Alcohol and Other Drugs Services Division, 1220 Morello Ave., Suite 200 in Martinez. The current opening is for one seat.
Fish and Wildlife Committee
The committee advises the Board of Supervisors on fish and wildlife issues in Contra Costa County. The committee meets the third Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m. in the Road Maintenance Division lunch room (squad room), 2475 Waterbird Way in Martinez. The current opening is for one seat.
Countywide Bicycle Advisory Committee
The committee provides input to the county and its cities on bicycle/pedestrian projects and advises the county and its cities on bicycle planning matters. The committee meets once annually to advise the county and its cities on which projects should be considered a priority for application of Transportation Development Act funds. The current opening is for one seat.
Byron Municipal Advisory Council
The council advises the Board of Supervisors on land issues and planning matters affecting the community of Byron and may represent the Byron community before the Board of Supervisors and the zoning administrator on such issues as land use, planning and zoning. Applicants must reside within the Byron Municipal Advisory Council boundaries. The council meets the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at Excelsior Middle School, 14301 Byron Highway in Byron. The current opening is for one seat.
Knightsen Town Advisory Council
The council advises the Board of Supervisors on land use and planning matters affecting the community of Knightsen and may represent the Knightsen community before the Board of Supervisors and the zoning administrator on such issues as land use, planning and zoning. Applicants must reside within the Knightsen Town Advisory Council boundaries. The council meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Knightsen Garden Club, 3067 Knightsen Ave. The current opening is for five seats.
Bethel Island Municipal Advisory Council
The council advises the Board of Supervisors on land use and planning matters affecting the community of Bethel Island and may represent the Bethel Island community before the Board of Supervisors and the zoning administrator on such issues as land use, planning and zoning. Applicants must reside within the Bethel Island Municipal Advisory Council boundaries. The council meets the second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Scout Hall, 3090 Ranch Lane in Bethel Island. The current opening is for one seat.
Economic Opportunity Council
The council reviews fiscal and programmatic reports submitted by staff, and the performance of Community Services Block Grant contractors and the Weatherization program services. It also makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on all program proposals and budgets related to Community Services Block Grant and the Weatherization program. The council meets the second Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at 40 Douglas Drive, rooms 101 and 102 in Martinez. The current opening is for one seat.
Mental Health Commission
The commission reviews and evaluates the community’s mental health needs, services, facilities and special problems to the director of health services and the Board of Supervisors. The commission meets the fourth Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. in the Concord Police Department community room, 1350 Galindo in Concord. The current opening is for one consumer seat and one family-member seat.
