Discovery Bay gas station robbed

Police are looking for the person who robbed the Safeway gas station in the Sandy Cove Shopping Center on Highway 4 in Discovery Bay at gunpoint Sunday evening. The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was hurt during the incident.

According the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff, a subject armed with a handgun entered the gas station at 9:55 p.m. and ordered the attendant to empty the cash register. Deputy sheriffs and a police K-9 responded to the scene and conducted a search of the area.

The suspect is described as Hispanic or white of unknown gender in the early 20s; 5 feet, 2 inches tall with a stocky build; and wearing a black or dark jacket, black jeans, ski mask and dark sunglasses.
