Art classes at new community center

Art classes offered by Brentwood Parks and Recreation begin Monday, Feb. 6 at the new Brentwood Community Center, 35 Oak St. in downtown Brentwood. In addition to its popular kids’ classes, the art program has expanded to include offerings for preschoolers, teens and adults. Parent/Child Art Start: Toddlers for kids 2 to 3, is scheduled for Mondays, Feb. 6 through March 19 from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Parents (or grandparents) are invited to come share the joy of art with their little one. Fun and colorful projects introduce children to beginning drawing and painting skills in a playful setting. The fee is $64.30 for Brentwood residents; $70.70 for non-residents. The fee is per child; no charge for parents. Materials are included.

Realistic Drawing for kids 6 through 12, is scheduled for Mondays, Feb. 6 through March 19 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Fun and challenging projects focus on observation, proportion, perspective, composition, shading and texture. The fee is $64.30 for Brentwood residents; $70.70 for non-residents; plus $10 for materials.

Drawing Master Class for kids 8 through 14, is scheduled for Mondays, Feb. 6 through March 19 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Themes will include still life, nature, buildings and cars, portraiture and the human figure (age-appropriate), with a focus on realistic rendering, composition and emotional content. The fee is $83.80 for Brentwood residents; $92.20 for non-residents; plus a $20 materials fee.
