The Soroptimist Club of East Contra County thanks all those who supported our many events in 2011 that raised money for local community needs. The Soroptimists participated in Festival of Trees, sold tickets for two Mexican lunches and our annual Christmas Corsage Raffle, See’s candy sales, yard sale and tamale sales.
The funds derived from the aforementioned supported adult education scholarships, hats for newborns at John Muir Hospital, hand-sewn dresses for girl students in Kenya, eighth-grade awards banquet, Get Real Academy for high school students, adopted a family at Christmas with gifts and food, Women’s Opportunity Award (funds to help train a woman to return into the business world), Toys for Tots and supported the LUHSD “S” Club (teenage Soroptimists-to-be).
