Holy Rosary’s seventh-grade girls National basketball team played an outstanding season, overcoming a seven-point deficit to win its semifinal game. The team then beat the previously undefeated league foe to win the local CYO championship. Cinderella story for sure with St. Anthony's girls who two years ago finished the season with zero wins. Yes, zero wins. With a roster of almost the exact same players, these girls have fought back and clearly personify effort, teamwork, and exceptional sportsmanship. Even in games where the opponents tactics were as questionable as the refereeing, St. Anthony girls, true to their integrity and ability, played good clean basketball every single time.
It's hard to see those accomplishments negated by just one loss. The one thing certain here is that even though they came up short in the last game, one of those "questionable" games, next season the girls will do what they have always done, and play their hearts out and be simply amazing. It would be nice for someone to see St. Anthony's as the real newsmaker here.
