When the Ellisons learned of the opportunity to purchase the business, they decided to take a chance and revitalize the establishment. From the beginning, Kelley had a vision for what she wanted Yogurt Island to be: a family-friendly and welcoming place for folks to enjoy their favorite frozen yogurt.
“When you meet Kelley, you meet someone who has a true passion for the City of Oakley and who has a lot of energy and ideas,” said Oakley Economic Coordinator Cecelia Nichols-Fritzler.
Armed with ideas, Kelley and Luke redecorated the space with colorful tables, brightly painted walls and new window décor. Customers are treated to an island-inspired environment that is charming and fun.
Yogurt Island serves frozen yogurt – including vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and seasonal fruit-flavored yogurt – made fresh daily.
The Ellisons also envision their business as a community partner with area schools and sports leagues. To kick things off, they’ll host a fundraiser Wednesday, April 4 to support Vintage Elementary School’s Gold Camp program. A portion of sales between 3 and 9 p.m. will benefit the program.
Located at 3100 Main St., Suite 282, Yogurt Island is open daily from 2 to 9 p.m. Summer hours, which go into effect May 1, are noon to 9 p.m. For more information, call 925-625-1610.
