Discovery Bay resident Barbara Schneider and sister Joan Burnett of Benicia recently took their Hometown Weekly Newspaper on a trip to Alaska to watch the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Barbara and Joan even sallied forth on their own dogsled ride. “The sound of the running dogs and the sled going throughout the snow was serene,” said Barbara. “We both got tears in our eyes.” The two also witnessed the glory of an aurora borealis, took in an ice-sculpting contest and toured an ice museum. Thanks, Barbara, for treating the Discovery Bay Press to a wintry wonderland.
