According to an Antioch Police Department press release, a 45-year-old male cab driver picked up three men early morning on April 26 from the Pittsburg/Bay Point BART station and drove them to an apartment complex off Delta Fair Boulevard in Antioch. Upon arriving at the apartment complex, one of the passengers robbed the cab driver at gunpoint.
The subject wielding the gun ordered the driver to get out of his cab and into the trunk. The men then drove the cab to Oakland before releasing the trapped cab driver, who was unharmed. The cab driver flagged down a passerby, who called Oakland police Friday at about 8 a.m.
Acting Capt. Leonard Orman wrote in an e-mail that the stolen taxi – a yellow 1998 Lincoln Town Car – has been found unoccupied in Oakland near 83rd Avenue. The car was not burned or significantly damaged. Investigators are on scene and bringing the vehicle back to Antioch for evidence processing.
The press release described the suspect with the handgun as a black man, 23 to 27 years old, between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall and weighing 145 to 160 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white lining. Another suspect is described as a black man, between 23 and 24 years old, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, weighing 170 to 180 pounds and wearing a black shirt and black jeans. The third suspect is described as a black man of unknown age, unknown height and weight, but wearing a grey hooded sweater and black jeans.
