Deer Valley’s Devante Boyd takes a mighty swing at a pitch during the Wolverines’ 3-2 victory over Freedom on Tuesday. The win, when combined with a 4-1 Heritage loss to Liberty, gave Deer Valley the outright Bay Valley Athletic League baseball title – its first since 2006. Junior pitcher Tyler Vistalli struck out nine Falcons in five innings. Senior Marcos Martinez earned the win and classmate Jacob Peters finished out the ninth inning for the save.
