On May 31 at 1:15 a.m., the Antioch Police Department received a 911 hang-up call at 1851 Mt. Goethe Way. A short time later, Hortensia Morales called back from the residence, stating that her boyfriend, Jose Rodriguez, had been stabbed by her husband.

Upon arrival, officers learned that Morales' ex-husband, Ronald Morales, had entered the residence and attacked the victims while they were asleep. Rodriguez suffered a stab wound to his upper torso and was transported to John Muir Medical Center, where he is expected to recover. Hortensia was assaulted but did not receive any injuries.

Ronald was stopped several miles away and was taken into custody without incident. He will await arraignment at Contra Costa County Jail.
