On June 8 at 12:54 p.m., a Milpitas police officer located an unoccupied, stolen vehicle on the 600 block of Ann Place while patrolling the residential area. The officer noticed that the vehicle was loaded with miscellaneous property, and suspected that a burglary might be in progress nearby.

A short time later, officers observed Baudelio Cortes Torres, a 28-year-old Antioch resident, leaving a residence and returning to the vehicle carrying additional property. The suspect was quickly detained. Officers checked the residence where the suspect came from and discovered that it had been burglarized.

Stolen property inside the vehicle linked the suspect to one additional Milpitas residential burglary, and one nearby San Jose residential burglary. The suspect was booked into the county jail for burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle, drug-related violations and outstanding warrants.

The investigation is ongoing.
