Gateway Christian High School, a division of Gateway Christian School, has announced that it is now a candidate for accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. This status is the result of the school's initial accreditation visit by WASC last March.

"Our WASC candidate status is a three-year term during which our high school will be working to finalize full accreditation through a carefully planned self-study and implementation of goals," said Administrator/Principal David Stutzman. "We are pleased with the WASC Board decision in July. This step toward full accreditation is confirmation, especially to our high school students and parents, that Gateway is now poised for growth and expansion."

The high school curriculum meets California State requirements for graduation and admission requirements for most colleges. In addition to the normal high school curriculum, students may also enroll in AP and honors courses as well as dual college credit courses. Gateway has also re-joined the Bay Area Christian Athletic League and will be fielding interscholastic teams in girls volleyball and boys basketball for 2007-08.

Gateway Christian High School was formed in 2001 and has already graduated three senior classes. Alumni are currently attending Bethany College, Simpson College, Diablo Valley College and other local colleges. The new 2007-08 school term began Aug. 27. New applications for admission are still being accepted.
