Last year Deer Valley saw its perfect Bay Valley Athletic League championship season vanish, as Pittsburg edged the favored Wolverines in overtime on their home field. The Pirates treated Deer Valley to a repeat performance last Friday night, handing the Wolverines their first loss of the season, 20-6. Quarterback Mario Hill, above, led the Pittsburg attack with 166 passing yards and a touchdown, while Bryce Flowers and Avery Patterson combined to rush for 94 yards and two touchdowns. Both teams are back in action Friday, Sept. 28, with 7:30 p.m. kickoffs at home. Deer Valley (2-1, 0-1 BVAL) hosts Heritage (2-1, 1-1), while Pittsburg (1-2, 1-1) hosts Logan (3-0) in a non-league matchup.
