Editor:

I am a Blue Star Mom and I was very upset about what happened at the Oakland Airport last Thursday, regarding the Marines bound for Hawaii.

Today I have a somewhat different opinion; and although what happened was an obvious mistake, I was pleasantly surprised when at Oakland on Sunday night my son, U.S. Army Sgt. Jonathan Adams, was flying to Columbia, S.C. to report for training duty at Ft. Jackson. A flight attendant told him an anonymous person had bumped him up to first class. My son was so surprised, it made a long journey so much nicer; he is tall and never has anyplace to put his legs.

I want to publicly thank the angel who did this for him. The military does such hard work for such little pay, any kindness is greatly appreciated. I don't think the public knows how hard it is for the ones overseas fighting and the ones at home praying.

Actions like this one, by this very generous person, help these soldiers to know that they are appreciated.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Rose and Roy Adams
