On Saturday, Sept. 29, I had the great pleasure of meeting with approximately 25 caring and compassionate Antioch residents at our monthly Coffee with the Cops program, which was hosted at Saxby's Coffee in Antioch.

As we discussed local issues for two hours, drinking delicious coffee and fruit smoothies, I was impressed by the level of community knowledge and concern regarding local issues occurring in Antioch. During the meeting we discussed police staffing, traffic issues, the Antioch Police Activities League, the Antioch Police Community Action Team (CAT), and other quality of life issues that sparked intelligent, honest and intriguing dialogue that was beneficial to all.

As I left the meeing, I was proud to be not only a member of the Antioch Police Department, but a resident of this community. The passion shown by these citizens clearly demonstrated to me that the people of Antioch are active participants who are dedicated to keeping our community strong and safe, while at the same time improving quality-of-life issues. There was clear support for the Antioch Police Department and the Antioch Neighborhood Improvement Services, which is very much appreciated!
