Dustin Thomas McMahon, the son of Peter and Carrie McMahon, is a senior at Independence High School in Brentwood. For his Eagle community service project, McMahon and his crew of scout and adult volunteers constructed three paved pathways of interlocking bricks. The walkways now provide a mud-free connection from the blacktop to the arbors at John Muir Elementary School in Antioch.
Laurence David Madrigal, the son of David and Sue Madrigal, is a graduate of Deer Valley High School and is attending San Francisco State University. Madrigal's Eagle project consisted of repairing, restoring and refinishing three redwood arbor structures at John Muir School. The arbors and benches were sanded, slats were replaced, stained and waterproofed, and the name of each arbor was painted on the structure. One of the arbors is appropriately named The Eagles Nest.
Blake Everett Hamilton, the son of Stuart and Sherrie Hamilton, is a graduate of Deer Valley High School and a student at Los Medanos College. For Hamilton's Eagle project, he planned and led a crew that collected supplies and refurbished tents for the homeless. Through corporate and private donations, he was able to gather over $7,000 worth of shoes, coats, clothing and other supplies for the Contra Costa Homeless Encampment Outreach Team.
