The most useful, thorough and looked-forward-to publication about East County is out once again, as the 2008 Welcome! Magazine hit the streets last week.

"We call it 'The Ultimate Family Guide' because that's what it is," said Greg Robinson, associate publisher of the Brentwood Press and Publishing Company. "People who live in East County love it because it's packed full of the restaurants, school info, recreational opportunities and service providers they need every day, but might not know about. People moving here - and there are 100 families coming to East County every week - love it because it's loaded with information on events, shopping, real estate, local government and healthful living.

"And advertisers like it because it exposes new and current residents to a cornucopia of companies located right in their home towns who are set up to serve their neighbors."

Now in it's 10th year, the Welcome! Magazine can be found at many locations around the community, including new home developments, real estate offices, chambers of commerce, city halls and hundreds of high-traffic locations throughout East County, including Antioch, Brentwood, Discovery Bay and Oakley.

Also, this year's entire magazine is interactive and online at www.thepress.net. This format enables all East County residents' instant access to information about their community as well as direct links to advertisers' Web sites, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Every effort has been made to ensure accuracy in advertising and editorial content for this year's Welcome! Magazine. Suggestions for additions or other improvements to the publication are welcome, and can be submitted by calling magazine editor Karen Rarey at 634-1441, ext. 110.

Additional copies of the Welcome! Magazine are free, and can be picked up at the Press offices, 248 Oak St. in Brentwood.
