I was extremely pleased to read that Eric Prater was named the Byron Union School District's new superintendent. The story presented in your paper gave us a glimpse into his character, accolades, credentials and vision. It is clear Prater possesses the skills to take our school district to a new level.

Several years ago I had the honor of meeting Eric when I was chosen to be Principal for a Day. This entitled me to spend some time in his shoes and accompany him around campus. What was immediately clear was his gift of connecting with students, teachers and district staff. What I witnessed was an abundance of mutual respect at every level.

Board President Lisa Hultz said it best when she opined that Prater is a perfect fit. Our school board - Lisa Hultz, Kathy Slightam, Karri Murayama, Ken Silman and Jill Sprenkel - should be congratulated for executing this excellent decision. The entire community will indeed benefit from it. Welcome back, Eric.
