For more than 30 years, the Brentwood Regional Community Chest has been collecting food and toys for families in need to brighten their holiday.

Rose Pierce began this effort many years ago and her legacy lives on with her family. Lill Navarrette and other community leaders continue to work tirelessly, making it possible for us to help our less fortunate neighbors. This year will be especially hard for many, so I ask you to consider your own ability to support this very worthy cause that benefits us at the local level.

Community Chest volunteers deliver holiday baskets to community members filled with toys, turkeys and other non-perishable items. Please join me this year in support of the Community Chest by donating food at your local grocery store, making a contribution or volunteering your time.

Collection points include post offices, city halls, chambers of commerce and fire stations in Brentwood, Byron, Oakley, Knightsen and Discovery Bay. Look for signs that say "Brentwood Regional Community Chest" on the barrel. To volunteer, please contact the Regional Community Chest directly at 989-5882 or you can mail in your tax-deductible contribution to P.O. Box 845, Brentwood, CA 94513.

Together we can make this a joyful holiday season for everyone.
