An open letter to the Discovery Bay CSD Directors:

Please consider this communication as an additional response to your lack of action on the community's behalf regarding the sheriff's plea for support to insure proper funding for public safety.

Many citizens have asked that the entire DBCSD Board go to Martinez to recommend to the BoS that they adequately fund the sheriff's office for the 2008-09 FY budget cycle. Unfortunately, as I write this, there is no indication that any CSD member other than Dave Dove intends to do the right thing.

Clearly what you have been asked to do is a challenge to the desires of the BoS, but what about the interests of the community you all were elected to represent? Do we not count? What is more important: minimizing the noise level the BoS must face over the difficult budget process or properly representing the citizens of this community?

You heard with your own ears what the two lieutenants said on April 2, 2008 regarding the future loss of services we might experience (not having enough cars for the deputies on duty, possibly losing a substation, no routine marine patrol, etc.). How can you sit idly by and not act to insure the town's public safety needs? Now would be a great time to show true leadership.

It is not too late to organize a proper effort to support the sheriff's plea for budgetary help. Please reconsider your position and represent this community on April 22, 2008 at the BoS meeting.
