Kids Helping Kids, a nonprofit group begun by a Discovery Bay pre-teen to help stop child trafficking in Ghana, is inviting kids to help the cause by washing cars this weekend. Grownups can help too, of course, by bringing their vehicles to Discovery Bay Elementary School at 1700 Willow Lake Road and watching the youthful good-deed-doers scrub them clean. The event, set for Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature an appearance by the San Francisco 49ers' Gold Rush Girls. I came up with an idea to put what I've learned about Positive Action to good use, said Kids Helping Kids founder Tyler Page in a press release. It doesn't take much, just $20 a month to keep a child free. My goal is to raise enough money to save the lives of 200 children for an entire year. Let's team up and show others how positive action in our community can change lives. To sign up to help with this weekend's event or other fundraisers, call 925-516-9178 or e-mail khkwn@sbcglobal.net.
