Editor:

It is about time someone recognizes the wonderful work of Sgt. Schwitter and the CAT team ( High honors for CAT Team, Antioch Press, April 18). I conduct neighborhood watch meetings. In neighborhood after neighborhood, where residents used to live in fear and intimidation of the criminal elements that had moved into our community, they now realize that they have someone on their side. We are starting to fight back.

Sgt. Schwitter and his team, along with the rest of the Antioch Police Department, deserve all the recognition that we can give them. In addition, the City Council members, along with the city staff, should be congratulated on having the political will in giving the police department the tools to better our neighborhoods.

As for the critics with their ridiculous allegations of racism, I would strongly suggest that they invite the criminal elements to live in their  neighborhoods and leave ours alone!
