Few things go together better than wine and chocolate, unless of course they're accompanied by bountiful gift baskets and live music, all set against the backdrop of one of East County's most beautiful vineyards.

On May 31 from 5 to 9 p.m., the community is invited to experience, partake and indulge during the second annual Wine & Chocolate Tasting event at Hannah Nicole Vineyards in Brentwood.

Hosted by the Special Kids Foundation, the gala fundraiser will included a silent auction of such items as local country club golf packages, indulgent spa baskets topped with pampering products, plus services and wine baskets filled with much-in-demand vintages. Other treats include a one-of-a-kind handmade quilt, animal lovers' baskets and a Scrapbook Diva basket. A variety of artwork will also be displayed, featuring a signed print by Lynrd Skynrd (and former Damn Yankees) drummer Michael Cartelone.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Special Kids Foundation. The nonprofit organization plans to build a local facility here in East County in order to better serve the needs of the area's 5,000-plus special needs children and their families.

Our goal is to provide support, friendship and create a sense of oneness with these incredibly challenged families, while providing them with the resources to navigate the difficult road of raising these special kids to be productive, happy, successful adults, regardless of their disabilities, said Special Kids Founder Lisa McBride.
