Editor:

As the June 3 primary election draws near, the residents of East County should think long and hard about before they cast their vote for District 5 supervisor. Here are two more powerful revelations you must consider when choosing the best candidate for District 5 supervisor.

As you may or may not know, the Antioch Police Officers Association (APOA) has recently endorsed Gary Agopian for District 5 supervisor despite Erik Nunn's insipid attempts to align himself with our police officers in his campaign flyers. If Nunn's former colleagues with the Antioch Police Department do not trust him, why should you?

Secondly, what will undoubtedly come as a huge surprise to many members of the Oakley community, Kevin Romick, Bruce Connelley, Carol Rios and Pat Anderson of the Oakley City Council all have endorsed Gary Agopian for county supervisor. The remaining city councilmember, Brad Nix, endorsed Federal Glover.

If the Oakley City Council, who appointed Erik Nunn to the Oakley Planning Commission, does not believe in Nunn's leadership abilities, once again, why should you?

Given Erik Nunn's reported flip-flopping political parties to bolster his appeal to special-interests groups and real estate developers and his willingness to be less than truthful in every facet of his campaign, I am extremely thankful that the voters of our region have another candidate who has consistently demonstrated honesty, integrity and the necessary skills and abilities to provide effective leadership as District 5 supervisor.

Whether you vote by absentee ballot or in person on Tuesday, June 3, I hope you will join me and vote for the only candidate who truly understands the needs and concerns of our community, Gary Agopian.

Gary Gilbert
