Dana and Mark Lee lived on the golf course for 13 years before buying the lot, designing and building their present home of seven years at 5600 Starboard Drive.
Mark, an architect, designed the home and now is keeper of the lawn. Dana is the gardener. As a former science teacher, she finds decomposition a perfect example of organisms and chemistry in composting. She practices what she taught and continues to mantain a compost bin on the hot side of the house. She treats the soil four times a year and all her plants flourish. There are too many plants blooming to list, but if it's meant to bloom at this time of the season it's in bloom!
A sign was placed in the yard proclaiming 5600 Starboard Drive the Discovery Bay Garden Club Home of the Month. The club presented a certificate of appreciation and a $25 gift card donated by Village Nursery in Brentwood. The next area to be judged will be the homes on the golf course.
